Offshore Islands

 Philip Island is a volcanic island about 2000 metres long and a 280 metres high at the peak, lying about seven kilometres from Norfolk Island. The island has been ravaged by goats and rabbits, which were intially placed there a source of food for fishermen who could not return to Norfolk in bad weather. Most of the animals have now be destroyed and the vegetation is returning, as seen above.

In 1982 a Commemorative Issues were print in two strips of five stamps,two of the Philip Island  24cents stamps are shown below, a annual visitor in the form of the Sooty Tern, Sterna fuscata, and the flower Hibiscus,H.insularis.

Nepean Island is small isle only four hectare of limestone lying about a kilometre to the south , having neither water nor Norfolk pines on its surface.

The strip of five stamps for this island are 35 cents, the two shown below are of a gecko (lizard), Phyllodactylus guentheri, and a Masked Booby, Sula dactylatra, a yearly visitor.
